On March 8th, 2023, 14 cyclists from Tour De Kenya embarked on a 500km cycling expedition from Nairobi to Mombasa over three days. The primary objective of this event was to raise Ksh.2 million for the Kenya Kesho School for Girls. The cyclists were accompanied by a support crew of 10 individuals in 5 vehicles, which included a doctor, a mechanic, and security officers.
Kenya Kesho School for Girls is located in Mshiu Village, Kwale County. The school was established to help the local community break the cycle of poverty by providing primary education to girls. Currently, the school has 180 girls enrolled in six classes. In addition to academic education, the girls are also empowered with farming, knitting, and tailoring skills to help them generate income for their families. The school was founded by Peter and Sandra Ruysenaars and is a registered charity both in Kenya and Switzerland. It primarily depends on donations to operate.
As part of the CSR activity, a sum of KES 200,000.00 was donated to the Kenya Kesho School for Girls. In addition, we sponsored the purchase of branded kits and polos for the support crew accompanying the cyclists.
The Tour De Kenya CSR event was successful in raising funds for the Kenya Kesho School for Girls. The donations made will help the school continue to provide education and skills to girls in the local community. We are proud to have been part of this initiative and look forward to supporting other similar activities in the future.
